Job Overview

We are looking for a confident and friendly Gardening Assistant to join the team in our care home. The successful candidate will work alongside the Gardner and together they will be responsible for the upkeep of the general appearance of the homes gardens and grounds, this includes the lawns, hedges and flower beds. All equipment required to perform the role will be provided.

Successful applicants are required to undertake an enhanced disclosure check. The employer has claimed an exception under the Equality Act 2010.
All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure the safeguarding of adults.

Key responsibilities:

To assist the head gardener with the overall upkeep of the homes grounds and gardens
General Tool Maintenance – to carry out minor repairs and general maintenance on all gardening tools.
Gardens – to ensure general maintenance of grounds, cut lawns, and maintain flower beds, hedges, sweeping leaves, pruning, upkeep of greenhouses and summer fruit picking.
Maintaining work & Activities schedules
Maintaining sheds, equipment and tools.
Plant health management
Provide assistance in Gardens across other sites if/when necessary
